NEEDED TO CHANGE - AND WE DID IT
FWT Challenger Series Cuts CO2 Emissions by 50% After Athletes act now Petition
The FWT Challenger Series is the final step to the Freeride World Tour. Around 60 athletes will compete in four destinations in Italy, Slovakia, France and Austria. To compete in all four destinations athletes need to travel 3600km.
By simply adjusting the order of the events the travel distance can be reduced to 1700km.
Ultimately, CO2 emissions are now reduced by 50%!
We demanded an adjustment of the order of the events to dramatically reduce CO2 emissions.
In a major win for sustainability, the Freeride World Tour (FWT) Challenger Series has halved its CO2 emissions by reordering its competition schedule. The change, prompted by the Athletes Act Now petition, reduces travel distance from 3,600 km to 1,700 km by following an East-to-West route: Slovakia, Austria, France, and Italy.
This simple adjustment not only minimizes travel but also starts at lower-altitude locations, gradually moving higher. The freeride community, deeply affected by climate change, pushed for the change to lead by example. This success underscores how small, thoughtful actions can drive significant environmental impact.
