The ACT NOW FILMFESTIVAL is not just about cinema. It’s a space for reflection, urgency, and solidarity — a gathering for those who believe that stories can shift narratives, and that sport can be a site of political struggle.

In 2025, the festival returns to Munich with an extended format and a sharper focus. Over the course of three days, we invite filmmakers, activists, athletes, and engaged audiences to explore the deeply interconnected worlds of sport and activism — from climate justice to anti-racism, from gender equity to the right to protest.

Whether on the pitch, in the streets, or behind the camera, sport is being reclaimed as a language of dissent. Around the world, athletes and communities are speaking out, challenging systems of oppression, and pushing for real change. These movements deserve cinematic attention — not only as subjects of struggle, but as acts of creativity, resilience, and imagination.

For Filmmakers

We’re looking for films — fiction, documentary, hybrid — that question, provoke, and mobilize. We welcome work that approaches sport not as spectacle, but as a lens through which to view power, solidarity, and resistance.
